The FabLab’s mission includes outreach beyond the university. We are currently developing activities for K-12 students in order to engage young scholars through experiential learning and regularly participate in community events focused on STEAM and making. We are also happy to give a free tour of our facility for those who are looking to start or expand their makerspace.
To learn more or to schedule a tour or instruction for your group, please fill out the Request a Group Visit form.
For outside groups, a 1.5 hour hands-on, instructional workshop costs $15/person (with a minimum of 10 people, or $150) and includes the cost of materials used. A tour of the space for student groups as part of a campus visit costs $2.50/person (with a minimum of 10 people, or $25). We are able to accommodate 20-30 students at a time; larger groups may need to divide into smaller sections and rotate between the FabLab and other on-campus tours and shows. The FabLab makes every attempt to keep these costs from being prohibitive; please contact Katie Peery if you have any questions.
Consider enhancing your field trip by visiting the Planetarium, seeing a Science Ambassadors show, or going on a tour of campus! These visits are scheduled independently.
